The Dragon Ball Z series spans close to 300 episodes with Funimation releasing individual sagas in boxed sets that have come to be known as the Dragon Box. Dragon Ball Z: Dragon Box 7 is the final set and contains episode 251 to 291. All the episodes are the uncut, Japanese version of the anime (English dub available too). If you ever watched DBZ on TV as a kid, these were the episodes you watched.

Dragon Box 7 concludes the series with the multiple Buu sagas. It begins shortly after Gohan has broken the Z-Sword and released the Old Kai. From there we get to see the group fight Buu in his various forms from the fat Majin Buu all the way to Kid Buu. While it’s not the best episodes of the series, they are some of the most action-packed. We get to see Goten and Trunks master the fusion technique and become Gotenks, and Gohan finally unlocks his true potential he’s been hiding all these years. For a Dragon Ball Z fan, Dragon Box 7 is a fitting end to the series.

The collection itself is pretty nice. Each box contains two DVD cases with three discs each along with a detailed episode guide with descriptions, sketches, and character bios. Of all the things included, the guide is the best item. On the spine of each case and booklet, a partial image appears so if you've been collecting each Dragon Box, you'll have a full picture. It's kinda like the old VHS tapes that would make a mural of sorts. It's definitely a nice little touch.

Still, it’s not the greatest out there. I still believe Kai to be a better edition of the show. It’s more of the action and less of the filler, and it’s available in HD on Blu-ray. That being said, the original Dragon Ball Z episodes are soon to be released on Blu-ray. So, it’s probably best to wait for the Level series as they’re called. That’s the problem with Funimation releasing so many version of Dragon Ball Z; once something is out, there’s always a better version on the horizon. It’s best to wait it out for a bit and see what’ll be the best bang for your buck.
