Ben 10 Ultimate Alien is the sequel series to Ben 10 Alien Force, which was in turn the sequel series to Ben 10. Got that? Make sense? Well that’s probably the only part that will because these shows run the gamut from humor to sci-fi to action back to sci-fi at a moments notice. Actually, it’s not too bad, but there is a ton going on and you’ll definitely be lost if you’re jumping into the middle of this series with no frame of reference.

Speaking of jumping into the middle, this release is yet another example of what I hate about TV shows being released piecemeal on DVD. This two-disc set features 12 episodes from the middle of season two. Why release part of a season like this? Why not just release the whole thing in one fell swoop? It drives me nuts and it’s such a cash grab on the part of the studio.

At any rate, this is a pretty enjoyable show. It’s fast-paced, with never a dull moment. So if you or your kids love sci-fi adventures with a good dose of family fun and transforming powers, then you should definitely check this out.
