Aqua Unit Patrol Squad is the latest iteration of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, which is to say, it’s the exact same show, same cast, and same sense of humor only with a new title and a new title song. Got all that? If not, no worries, this 2-disc set will help you figure it all out through the final seven ATHF episodes and the first 10 AUPS episodes.

For the uninitiated, Aqua Teen (or now Aqua Unit) is one of the flagship shows from Adult Swim, Cartoon Network’s adult-oriented programming. It’s weird, obscure, awkward, bizarre, satiric, absurd, obscene, trippy, random…the adjectives could just keep coming and still only scratch the surface. 

AUPS isn’t for everyone and I have to admit, it’s not really for me. While I appreciate some of the humor on the show, a lot of it just doesn’t click with me. I like a lot of random stuff when it comes to comedy, but something about this show is mostly a swing and a miss for me. That said, if you’re reading this and you’re a fan, take comfort in knowing that the show’s creators haven’t really messed with the formula that much. It’s still same strangeness you’re used too, now with a fancy new name.
